Our Vision
We hope to expand accessible and equitable mental health care, training, and consultation by and for Neurodivergent, Queer, and marginalized people, in and beyond Washington State.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide client-centered, holistic, and accessible mental health services and community support by and for Neurodivergent, Queer, and other marginalized populations in the greater Seattle area.
Often, our community members struggle to access the quality mental health services they deserve. Many providers are not affirming of our clients’ historically marginalized identities, and many providers are out of our clientele’s price range. To combat these challenges, if clients are unable to afford our full session fee, we work with them to make a plan for ongoing care that works with their needs. We also host a monthly consultation group for providers who wish to improve care for Neurodivergent clients and to create a wider-spread understanding of the ways that providers need to adjust typical care methods to accommodate their ND clients.
We are converting to a nonprofit organization with the hope that external support will allow us to further these commitments to our communities, expanding upon our work within the provider community, and taking on more clientele who are otherwise unable to access necessary mental health services.
Our Story
Marie Loeb (any/all pronouns) began Holistic Child and Family Practice after raising two Autistic children, one of whom is Transgender. As a parent, they had a lot of difficult conversations advocating for her children in schools, at doctor’s offices, and throughout the community. His parenting journey also lead her to the discovery that they are also Autistic. Witnessing the prevalence of stigma and judgment that she and their children received, and the overall punitive and lack of understanding from authoritative specialists pushed Marie to explore ways of working with human differences that are affirming and supportive.
Holistic Child and Family began with the desire to help children and families in a way that was affirming, acknowledging that our clients are the experts of their experiences, and allowing them to focus on areas that were important to them, rather than traditionally prescribed areas for improvement.
Four years on, Holistic Child and Family has expanded to be able to support more members of the Neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Disabled, Kink, and Polyamorous communities, accepting many insurances, and offering discounted rates to support clients in times of need. In late 2023, the team determined that conversion from a PLLC to a Non-Profit would be more in line with our values of providing high-quality care to our community members, regardless of ability to pay. As of early 2024, Holistic Child and Family is a nonprofit in the state of Washington, and is in the process of becoming a 501c(3) so that we can gain more widespread support for our work and our clients.
